Electroplankton or the best game ever… for the next few days

Yeah ElectoPlankton.
Picked this up in Seoul today and ended up jamming for about 4 – 5 hours on various trains and buses on my way home. Created by media artist Toshio Iwia Electroplankton is essentially a series of algrothimitic noise generators tied together by a nautical theme. It’s genuis comes in it’s unique way od combining design or interface to a biological world that happens to produce music. The music usually consistes of minimalist chimes and piano blursts. Some of the levels look like his installations observe:

ElectroPlankton is Toshio’s first game for Nintendo and hopefully more will come of it. While it’s chock full of various ideas he’s pioneered over the years (although if we could get a DS version of his light to sound thing that would be cool) it really shows just how vicarious Nintendo is willing to go to make a good game. While American’s game infa…ahh fuck it… America kinda sucks it’s useless to compare. Anyway, with so much weird ass software and stuff out there, it’s nice to see something that’s intelligence isn’t in overbearing narrative form, but rather in clever implemenations of complexity through simplicity. Electro-plankton represents where intelligence is going, fuck narrative for a second, put on your hat, and surf sound through a touch screen.
