DIY SMS Server?

update: there is an open source SMS server my friend Fred found it and additionally if you check the comments section of this post the kind folks from buzz sonic posted a couple really good apps for sending sms straight from your desktop. A few odd things about SMS: there is no universal format for sms which makes sense becuase there’s no universal cellular network (it’s 3g here in korea and primarily gsm in the u.s.). Additionally the companies aren’t working together to make sprint sms messages compatible with say t-mobile or KT wireless servers. Hence sending universal sms messages can be a pain.
anyone know a way to set up your sms server on the net?
i.e. a website that let’s you type in an sms message and
send it to cell phones? I see these services around but haven’t
seen a DIY way of doing it.

awesome. but these both seem to be desktop apps. I’m just looking for one where you can fill in a form on the net to send a sms.
