Nuevo, Kronos Quartet

Matt sent me this one last night.

Truly amazing takes on traditional Latin American
melodies including El Llorar. Kronos brings them to
life by giving each piece an urgency similar to Michael Nyman’s work
only with a Latin flair. Perhaps the most enjoyable album
I’ve heard so far this year.

My wife and I went to see them play this album a couple of years ago (maybe longer?) The most amazing track is the one using the recording of the man they found in Mexico City playing a blade of grass between his fingers – I can’t remember which track it is, but it’s the one with the huge, lush Hollywood Orchestra style arrangement.
