Gang Gang Dance Revival Of The Shittiest

I know I gave these guys a bad review in SkyScraper, but I do like
their first album
enough to type it out despite the fact that my G key isn’t working.
Loose, improvised tribalism similar to No Neck Blues Band’s Intomancy
and the recent Exceptor releases only with a rudeness and sudden jerk
around to the vocals and electro-bass lines

Strangely meditative, it’s unfortunately already out of print. Is
Amanda in this group? I keep thinking I hear her on the keyboards =)

Peace,
Andrew Jones

The Mae Shi

On the Subject of rock, or my coverage there of, couldn’t recommend
the Mae Shi from 5 Rue De Christie more.
Intense kinda arty punk that twists and turns away
from recognizability by preying on that vital area of
the psyche where we let childhood rest and rituals
begin. Essential listening in the supposed pop revolution
of the moment:

Clips don’t quite do this band justice. A series of 1 minute
songs it sings between the notes of recognition to find a new
little space for punk in the land of cure and emo-pop.

Additionally they got a video here

Funk Funk or Cameo’s finer moments

Of all the 80s electro funk I’ve downloaded,
Cameo’s Funk Funk has always stood out as
a quality track. Is it as inventive as Prince in
his prime? Hell, no, but damn it’s one good tune.

Cameo – Funk Funk

Cameo is of course the group that Chromeo decided to rip on
in their recent release and one of several groups Detroit
Grand Pubahs draw from. Quality funk.
If you happen to have any other electro-funk
let me know. I remember once being in a hip-hop shop
that was playing amazing electro-funk called
Music and Memories in Jacksonville, FL. Well worth
checking out if your in the area and want some dancehall
or vintage hip-hop 12″s.

Peace,
A
